Product Manager

Description:

As a Drivewyze Product Manager, you will be responsible for the product planning and execution of our innovative technology services for the commercial transportation industry throughout the product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager's job also includes ensuring that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals.

Location: Canada – Edmonton, AB

In this role you will:

  • Define the product strategy and roadmap with the involvement of executive management
  • You will work with engineering to define product release requirements
  • Deliver market/customer requirements with prioritized features and corresponding justification
  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
  • Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples
  • Be an expert about the market and the competition
  • Act as a leader within the company

Responsibilities:

  • Market analysis, crafting business cases and performing Profit and Loss investigation
  • Analysis of technology trends
  • Customer and market research
  • Competitive analysis for use internally at the company
  • Documenting market needs and customer problems
  • Working with Engineering to finalize functional specifications
  • Running alpha/beta/pilot programs and capturing early customer feedback
  • Making feature, schedule and cost tradeoffs throughout the product life cycle

Qualifications:

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to quickly understand markets, customer needs, and buying criteria
  • Able to grasp and translate technical capabilities into benefits
  • Strong understanding of Project Management skills: organized, and able to prioritize to meet business needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable with making presentations, giving demos, etc.
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with technical staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third parties
  • Team player
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in a technical Product Management role
  • Demonstrated success in defining and launching excellent products
  • Business or Technical BA (Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) required. MBA desired
  • Formal Product Management training an asset
  • Must be able to travel 20%
  • Examples and at least one sample of an effective product management document delivered in the past
  • Experience in the transportation industry is preferred
