  • Job Purpose/ Responsibilities
  • Review proposals specifications and drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates;
  • Prepare estimates by calculating various statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour and equipment costs and applying to complete scope of work;
  • Review/research historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compile summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates;
  • Incorporate historical data into unit and man-hour figures; participate in developing bid package estimate documents;
  • Maintain files of working documents for back-up to estimate figures including (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.;
  • Create, send and manage subcontractors request and proposals; reviewing design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality or availability of materials.
  • Develops and maintains guidelines and resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.

1. Bachelor in Civil Engineering
2. 10 years’ experience working on the construction sector for a general Contractor
3. Used to estimate heavy civil works in the range of 100 – 1,500 Million CAD
4. Proficient with estimating and spreadsheet software
5. Mathematical skills
6. Ability to interpret graphics and prepare draws
8. Required to travel within Canada and elsewhere as directed
