Permanent Full Time Salary Band $ 38,000 - $42,000.00
Our Company represents a Winnipeg based Law Firm who is actively searching for a Legal Assistant, with experience in Real Estate, Wills & Estates, Conveyance and some Corporate Law. This individual must be friendly, energetic and a team player. Having strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently goes without saying. You must be very ambitious and have the ability to work in a fast paced and constantly changing environment. You must be the type of person who dives in and gets the job done. Having Excellence in customer service is not only necessary but expected.
Job Duties:

  • Strong attention to detail with extreme accuracy , punctuality, spelling and grammar
  • Coordinate correspondence both between internal departments and external vendors
  • Prepare legal documents, court reports and affidavits,
  • Research records, court files and other legal documents,
  • Maintain data base and keep detailed and accurate records
  • Ability to create and maintain legal documentation with confidentiality
  • Transcribe and revise digital dictations and hand-written materials, including correspondence and memoranda to assist with the creation of legal documentation
  • Maintain client files, including opening, closing and preparing files for storage
  • A positive, self-starter attitude with an ability to take initiative
  • Research records, court files and other legal documents
  • Flexibility to work with multiple changing priorities and strict deadlines
  • Schedule and confirm appointments

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years legal administrative experience
  • Proficient with MS Office, word processing and Excel
  • A minimum typing speed of 40 – 50 words per minute
  • Excellent command of the English language (grammar and spelling abilities are essential)
  • Exceptional transcription and organization skills
  • Certification from a legal assistant Program is not necessary, but would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience handling confidential documents and information
  • Requires a strong work ethic with a stable work history
