Reports To: General Manager
This position is located at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta. This arena seats 17,000 and is home to The Edmonton Oilers NHL hockey team. Rexall Place is one of the premier sporting and entertainment venues in Edmonton hosting big ticket events such as the Canadian Finals Rodeo, Tim Hortons Brier, Paul McCartney, Justin Bieber, Metallica, Rihanna, Oprah, and many other special events. Delaware North Companies Sportservice is the premier food and beverage provider for this $20 million account, as well as for Telus Field in Edmonton, Alberta.
The successful associate will be responsible for overseeing all financial and reporting functions for the unit including accounting, payroll, annual plan, audit assistance and cash management, as well as financial analysis of the operation.
Manages day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including supervision of accounting personnel;
Preparation, review and approval of: Daily Sales Report, accounts receivable, payroll, and accounts payable.
Responsible for analyzing and reporting variances, monthly financial projections, month-end accounting duties, oversees audit requirements and cash management.
Implementation and enforcement of internal controls; ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
In conjunction with GM, coordinate and direct the preparation of the annual plan budget and financial forecast.
Analyze and interpret accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the unit.
Qualified candidates must have:
Minimum of five (5) years related experience, including previous supervisory experience
Operations Experience, especially in a hospitality (Food & Beverage) environment.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CGA and Master’s degree preferred
Knowledge of standard, accepted accounting principles and procedures
Analytical abilities, good planning & organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Ability to communicate with management regarding financials
Strong computer skills, including MS Office, and PeopleSoft Financials or similar accounting software
Proven ability to effectively supervise up to five (5) direct reports
Flexible availability: to include days, late nights, weekends, and some holidays
