Principal Consultant (Current Employee) –  Aberdeen9 October 2017
Technically, the people at DNVGL are first class. There are great role models for junior staff and interesting projects to work on. However, they are seen as expensive in the oil & gas industry, and management lack a plan of how to cope with the current industry challenges.

Management seem to have little involvement
The hardest part is asking for help as all individuals are very busy and it seems the management frown on you for asking questions on a regular basis.
The hardest part of the job is learning to use SAP and Oracle finance which are the systems used on a daily basis.
It seems like the office is getting smaller due to departments being moved abroad or anther location in the country
A major concern is that there is very little room for development
Pros
Free fruit
Cons
Lack of team spirit

Great globally, bad locally
Data Analyst/Business Analyst (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZ25 September 2017
DNV GL is a great global company. I love the company as a whole, but the local office was disorganized and disfunctional. They provided little training and my efforts were scattered across multiple roles, so I could not perform any of them well. I felt like I was set up to fail.
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
little training with high expectations

Surveyor (Former Employee) –  Houston, TX29 July 2017
Working for DNV-GL was a dream come true. There are not enough words or even words that could describe the experiences and work life I had while with this company. It breaks my heart that most companies out there are not anywhere near the level that DNV-GL is at.
Pros
everything
Cons
none

Good company, poor management ethics
Sales Manager (Former Employee) –  Katy, TX8 June 2017
Software division in the US surprisingly poorly managed.
It became increasingly more difficult to to get any understanding for problems facing the division, management not understanding the basics of customer requirements and how to improve on our weaknesses.
It is a good company to work for, but senior management was unable to accept or understand the corrosive attitude of some of the mid-level management.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Poorly managed

Not My Kind of Place
Contract Proposal Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Katy, TX5 June 2017
Management was not professional. Work process all over the place. Employees were messy and unprofessional. Employees took off to volunteer at rodeo when there was a deadline to meet. Manager was always taking off as well and always wanted to talk about her personal life. Hated this place.

Financial Analyst (Current Employee) –  Katy, TX3 April 2017
Norwegian company, with a similarly relaxed European atmosphere. Employees are granted autonomy and flexibility. There is a bias towards keeping Norwegians in management positions, but only in overhead departments. Technical/engineering departments are very diverse. Company supports employee development, and is reluctant to conduct reductions. Company is not publicly owned, and the company's priorities are aligned accordingly.
Pros
Benefits, atmosphere

Wind energy is environmentally destructive (greenwashing)
Field grunt (Former Employee) –  United States2 April 2017
This company and others who scope out ways to destroy landscapes with massive wind turbines, claiming to balance or mitigate the damage, should not be called progressive or green. Wind power also depends entirely on fossil fuels to exist, thus it's not really "renewable."
Pros
Gets things done
Cons
"Renewable" energy is laden with hypocrisy
