The Safety & Recruiting Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of Safety and Compliance for Display Transportation. You will be responsible for managing driver logs, service and annual inspections, accident and incident reporting as well is leading the team with safety training initiatives.
The position directly reports to President & CFO. You will be responsible for developing and continuing to upgrade Safety and Compliance programs for the organization and keeping updated with compliance legislation.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit & Qualify new drivers & owner operators
  • Review safety and work practices and conduct accident and incident investigations
  • Maintain driver, truck & trailer files
  • Manage outside carrier files and obtain insurance Certificates
  • Manage tractor and trailer maintenance reports and ensure accurate documentation
  • Deliver new employee orientation on health and safety and compliance including driver logs, trip sheets and accident reporting procedures
  • Partnering with Operations Manager and dispatch to resolve and communicate safety issues and concerns regarding fleet and drivers
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of Fleet maintenance and scheduling repairs for service and annual inspections
  • Processing of FAST transponders, IRP plates/licensing, IFTA
  • Ensure all equipment is insured and all trucks have proper insurance cards & permits
  • Managing driver logs, DOT, accident files
  • Performance management of drivers to ensure compliance standards are meet and Ministry of Transportation violations are addressed
  • Point of contact with Ministry & D.O.T regulators to address any violations of the Transportation and Customs Laws
  • Reporting of vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, and damages of vehicles
  • Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Safety and Compliance in the logistics industry
  • Strong knowledge of all provincial ,federal & U.S safety rules and regulations
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to set clear expectations, coach , develop and manage performance
  • Strong computer skills - Excel skills required for tracking of reports
  • Problem solving and analytical skills required to be able to investigate accidents and incidents
  • Excellent organization skills required to ensure processes are in place and followed
  • Ability to work with all levels including drivers and upper management
  • Must have the ability to multitask and work unsupervised
