We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a 12 month contract Disability Claim Coordinator position in our Western Regional Office located in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. We offer competitive pay, 26 long weekends per year through our fortnight program, 9 days of flex time per year, a wellness program, educational and training reimbursements and numerous other additional incentives.

Responsibilities will include:

The Disability Claim Coordinator provides initial and on-going disability file management support for non-occupational claims to both employers and employees.

 Managing a caseload of files working directly with Insurance Companies, Medical professionals and Employers to assist Employees in achieving maximum function and develop healthy return-to-work initiatives.
 Ability to plan, develop and implement goal-oriented claims management plans.
 Gathering and assembling complete short term disability (STD) and long term disability (LTD) applications, reviewing for accuracy and submitting to the insurance carrier for processing.
 Reviewing medical information, researching medical resources (Reed) and obtaining information from employees to determine return to work barriers and timelines for recovery to assist with return to work planning.
 Regular follow up with outstanding files to track progress and identify potential return to work dates.
 Identifying external resources which may facilitate claim resolution and providing this information to stakeholders.
 Providing file status information to employers on weekly, bi-weekly or upon request basis.
 Obtaining medical and functional information through interviews and reviews of standard and written correspondence.

 Post secondary education (University Degree or College Diploma) in Human Resources, Psychology, Health Sciences or a related field is preferred.
 1-3 years experience in claims management, disability management, health sciences or a related field.
 Familiarity with medical terminology and pharmacology would be an asset.
 Intermediate PC skills - including data entry, MS Word and MS Excel.
 Strong problem-solving and decision making skills.
 Excellent interpersonal and listening skills to work effectively with employers, employees, insurance carriers (i.e. good relationship building skills, exceptional customer service).
 Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, excellent time management, follow-up, organization and multi-tasking skills.
 Bilingualism (French, English), would be considered an asset.
