We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time 6-month contract position as an Early Intervention Coordinator in our Western Regional Office located in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. Responsibilities will include:
The Early Intervention Coordinator provides initial and on-going disability file management support for non-occupational claims to both employers and employees.
Communicating with employees who are off work on disability leave via telephone, and providing ability-focused support to encourage return to work potential.
Managing a caseload of files working directly with Insurance Companies, Medical professionals and Employers to assist Employees in achieving maximum function and develop healthy return-to-work initiatives.
Ability to plan, develop and implement goal-oriented file management plans.
Gathering and assembling complete short term disability (STD) and long term disability (LTD) applications, reviewing for accuracy and submitting to the insurance carrier for processing.
Reviewing medical information, researching medical resources (Reed) and obtaining information from employees to determine return to work barriers and timelines for recovery to assist with return to work planning.
Regular follow up with outstanding files to track progress and identify potential for a safe and early return to work.
Identifying external resources which may facilitate claim resolution and providing this information to stakeholders.
Providing file status information to employers on weekly, bi-weekly or upon request basis.
Obtaining medical, functional, and occupational information through interviews and reviews of standard and written correspondence.
Works with proprietary database management system to ensure all communication on files is clearly documented.
Post secondary education (University Degree or College Diploma) in Human Resources, Psychology, Health Sciences or a related field is preferred.
1-3 years experience in claims management, disability management, health sciences or a related field.
Familiarity with medical terminology and pharmacology would be an asset.
Intermediate PC skills - including data entry, MS Word and MS Excel.
Strong problem-solving and decision making skills.
Excellent interpersonal and listening skills to work effectively with employers, employees, insurance carriers (i.e. good relationship building skills, exceptional customer service).
Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, excellent time management, follow-up, organization and multi-tasking skills.
Bilingualism in Punjabi, Mandarin, Cantonese or Vietnamese would be considered an asset.
