Refrigeration / HVAC Mechanic

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: To be discussed

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible


Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training

Credentials: Heating/Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician Trade Certification; Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate; WHMIS; Gas Fitter Certificate - Level 2 or B

Valid Driver’s Licence

Experience: minimum 5 to 10 years, Commercial and Residential

Major Work Area: Installation, Maintenance, Repair, Service, Troubleshooting/Diagnostic

Type of Experience: Commercial and Residential

Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems
Rooftop (self-contained); Centrifugal cooling; Heat pump; Filtration; Air motioning and circulation; Built up (split system); Humidification and de-humidification systems; Ventilation; Cooling tower

Control Systems
Energy conservation; Computerized monitoring; Electrical devices; Electronic and solid state; Pneumatic devices; On-board diagnostics; Programmable logic controllers (PLC); Direct Digital Control systems

Responsibilities: Measure and lay out reference points for installation; Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components; Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment; Commission systems and test for leaks using testing devices; Perform routine maintenance and servicing; Interpret gas codes; Install, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul entire heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems; Handle, recover and store refrigerants; Install, calibrate and repair control systems; Test and repair electronic components; Read blueprints, schemas and drawings, Maintain adequate inventory of both stored and vehicle materials, Flexible for after-hour emergency calls, Able to work within a schedule-driven environment, Meet deadlines and manage work tasks efficiently

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat
