I currently work 8 hours a day from 8:00 am tog 16:30 pm, My duties inlvolve many thing other that what i have been appointed to do but im always willing to work go out of my way even helping others that lacking knowledge i am always willing to learn and i am a fast leaner.I am good at negotiating.I am currently working as the Personal Assistant for – more... the Department of Health for four institutions and it’s been six years. My duties involve Supply Chain Management, Human Resources Management, Financial Management Skills , Skills development of employees, My duties also involve diary management, make travel & accommodation arrangement, assist in workshops and trainings, following up on tasks. I have strong administration skills, I have the ability to work on my own and under pressure, and I am deadline driven and have time management. I have report writing and minute taking skills and I also have communication skills (verbal & written). I have the ability to maintain office confidentiality. I have also worked as the marketing assistant at St Dominics Hospital, My duties there involved taking articles from the news papers and create a report on the story that was on the advert about the Hospital, I also had to collect demographic and geographic survey on then hospital patients and show school kids around the Hospital. our pharmacy is diveded into different 4 sections, you have to rotate every 3 months into each. this gives us the opportunity to get exposed to different learning areas and keep us abreast with latest development in our industry. the people i work with always show a positive attitude and have a team spirit. their main concern is always the health of – more... the patient and public in general. our management always emphasize that service delivery should be the main priority of every employee of the institution. the hardest part of the job is when you have to render the pharmaceutical services at the clinics which are rooted deep in rural areas where there are no tarred roads and you have to drive during rainy conditions. the limpopo department of health being under administration hasn't done any justice to service delivery as most of the resources we need are most of the time not available. the most enjoyable part of being a pharmacist in this institution is being given more responsibility and this in turn make you feel appreciated and instil a sense of self-belief. being given compliments from patients and the public for the job well done always make you enjoy the job you are doing. – less

a typical work day at the department of health would be busy with phone calls and emails. I've learned how to conduct conference calls, i got familiar with power point and excel. my first day at work was nice and i felt welcomed.i learned a lot at the clinic and i was so happy talking to patients dealing with their files and i was also attending their trainings about patients and HIV AID,Diabetes and others.
Management are very good and supportive.
co_workers are nice and they got Team spirit.
Hard part of the Job dealing with – more... a patient who is very difficult does not understand.

I have learned a lot while training in that Department, learned how to relate with people on different levels, how to write minutes and memos. I know that as people we have different views in life, at times we would disagree but I would manage to reach point where we all agree to one thing even if it meant compromising. Wow my typical day at work is always the end of the month because the system we use to pay salary have closing dates, so the end of the month is the closing date and most of the claims to be captured come on that date. A typical day for me at work is only during month end whereby I compile monthly reports.
I have learned that nothing comes easy in life & I must keep on learning new things.
I enjoyed managing my section on my own, giving free role to do what I understand involves accident management.

The hardest part of the job is fleet management & movement control for every vehicle in my fleet. Expenditure report compilation & vehicle utilization.

Typical Day at work - is a pay day were you find that there is no one to approve or authorise submission, especially supervisors.
What i've learned - to priorotise, dedication and being patient with people with anger and meeting of deadlines.
My co-workers - i met old people than me and the taught me many things about Supply Chain Management.

in this department I learnt so many thing around management. i work a 40 hr shift per week. working closely with my co-workers. i feel gratified when I see that there is improvement in the way of delivering he service and when there is a change in the lives of the customers

SEEING OPD PATIENTS IN THE MORNING, FOLLOWED BY LUNCH THEN SEEING THE FOLLOW UP AND NEW PATIENTS IN THE WARDS. I WAS IN COMM SERVE LEARNED TO BE MORE DILLIGENT WITH THE PATIENT, PRIORITIZE , LEARN TO COPE WITH THE AMOUNT WORK LOAD THAT I HAD. HAD TO DO DOCUMENTATION AND ADMIN RELATED DUTY SUCH AS WRITING REFERRAL LETTERS, MOTIVATION LETTERS AND ISSUING – more... OF HOME EXERCISE PROGRAMS.IF PATIENTS ARE DEFAULTING,NON COMPLIANCY. It was a job and I was appreciative for that. Managers played favorites and the work load was not evenly distributed. Made working relationships difficult.

WORKING AT STANGER HOSPITAL WAS NOT FULFILLING BECAUSE WORK WAS NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY.AT GOVERNMENT IT IS NOT EASY TO GET FIRED SO STAFF TAKE LIFE EASY.MANAGEMENT CANNOT MANAGE PROPERLY BECAUSE TO MANY RESTRICTIONS AS NOT THEIR OWN COMPANY.THE HARDEST PART WAS TO SUPERVISE,BECAUSE SUB-ORDINATES DONT LISTEN AND I AS THE SUPERVISOR END UP DOING THE WORK.THAT – more...
