Reports to: Dawn & Mark Porter
Location: Victoria, BC
Hours: 44 hours per week
Vacation: 3 weeks
Compensation: $17 per hour


To provide daily personal care for a young adult with Fibromyalgia that assists her to live safely, comfortably and to have companionship in her own home.


Assist client with activities to support as normal a daily life as possible, including but not limited to:

Housekeeping Activities, including but not limited to:

  • Dusting the entire house including bedrooms
  • Cleaning toilets, shower, sinks, mirrors and countertops of bathrooms
  • Vacuuming/sweeping the entire house including bedrooms and bathrooms
  • Cleaning the stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator and countertops of kitchen
  • Washing floors when necessary (Minimum weekly)
  • Responsible for providing dinner (at least one meal) each day – ensuring the planning and preparation of a variety of meals aligned with the client’s dietary needs
  • Making/baking snacks or desserts upon request
  • General plant (mainly indoor) maintenance and watering

Note: The successful candidate will be required to manage a budget & bank account on behalf of the client for the above activities.

Laundry Activities, included but not limited to:

  • Washing the household’s laundry including client’s personal laundry, bed linens, bath towels, pet towels
  • Folding and distributing laundry to rooms of each family member or place of storage
  • Ironing/steaming/easy mending upon request
  • Changing bed linens once per month or upon request

Pet Support, including but not limited to:

  • Cleaning out and refreshing the cages of client’s pets
  • Daily feeding and water maintenance of pets

Transportation services, including but not limited to:

  • Transporting the client in the client’s vehicle on an as needed basis, to appointments or errands and accompanying them
  • Shopping/errand/appointments
  • As requested, accompanying each family member on shopping trips or appointments
  • Independently shopping for groceries for the week, including pet food
  • Collecting over the counter medication, dry cleaned clothing, framed pictures, etc. as required.

Psychological Support Services, including but not limited to:

  • Supporting & discussing issues the client has resulting from sessions that client attends with her Psychologist &/or Counselor
  • Working with the client on activities and follow up tasks as identified by the client’s Psychologist (Under the direction of the Psychologist)


  • A minimum of 3 years experience working with young adults with illnesses such as Fibromyalgia is required
  • University degree in fields such as: Kinesiology, nutrition, psychology or other related health studies topics is preferred
  • Ability to work with young adults, share interests and ideals and be a confident to them
  • Excellent financial management and planning experience (Including understanding the Canadian banking system)
  • A competent and experienced cook with and understanding of nutritional needs of individuals suffering from Fibromyalgia is preferred
  • A team player with perseverance and a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to be proactive and help when needed
  • A knowledge and understanding of various up to date best in class approaches to the treatment of fibromyalgia and healthy lifestyles is preferred
  • Completion of basic First Aid/First Response training
  • Excellent English, both verbal and written communication skills

This position requires the successful completion of a criminal and credit background check.
