Great salary in result of long hours and hard work
Certified Arborist (Former Employee), Humboldt County, CAMay 28, 2014
Pros: flexible lunches, ability to work at your own pace
Cons: no retirement, long hours, commute time
Day begins at 5:30 am with an hour drive to the yard. Morning meeting to get debriefed then crews set out to various properties. Learned how to climb trees, tie knots, preserve the environment, deal with property owners, work in high risk situations. A couple different managers who would randomly drop in to make sure the job was being done efficiently. – more... Co-workers were drastically different, some cooperative, some demeaning. Hardest part of the job was the physical toll it takes on your body, the long hours, and the commutes. Most enjoyable part of the job was seeing the huge difference our work made to the county. – less

lazy management
operator (Current Employee), old town flMay 5, 2014
Cons: expect a lot of responsibilities for no pay
This place is a joke starting with management. Lazy employees rewarded while others with more ambition were used up and rarely rewarded. Bonuses non-existent. The hard working, and knowledgeable are treated harshly and unfair while the inept, and lazy are coddled as management tends to play favorites.

Surveyor (Former Employee), Kent, OHJanuary 7, 2014
Pros: working in differnt location daily.
Cons: working in woodlots
My day at work stated out at 7 am we would have a staging area where all team member would meet up to discuss a work plan for the day. Each team would be giving a map with an area highlighted, that would be the area each team is responsible for. My team consisted of three people sometime we would be given four depend on the situation. Once we get to – more... our location our team would discuss the best possible way to start we would consider swampy area, area high in thorns, or area with lot of fallen trees. Once each team member put in their input we would decide and head straight to work ensuring we have a productive date. – less

With Davey I enjoyed the work and the people that I worked with. The company seemed to take advantage of its employees and I felt that they misled people.

Great place for the money-motivated. Lots of overtime.
Licensed in 3A, 3B, 6. (Former Employee), Auburn Hills, MIOctober 15, 2013
Plenty of work. No shortage of hours. The employees are clique-ish, quick to point fingers to deflect blame, and management apathetic, at best. I made good money working there, but felt I had to tread lightly where ever I went for fear that someone would misinterpret something said and run to the manager with "reports." Not conducive for those looking – more... for any peace of mind in their workplace. – less
