utility tree trimmer (Former Employee) – Edmonton, AB – 6 April 2017
Working at Davey Tree Services Edmonton was a great challenge and taught me alot pertaining to the Utility Tree Service industry. Co-workers were good people, management was very supportive and overall this job is never a bore.
ISA Certified Arborist (ON-1808A)/Tree Trimmer (Former Employee) – Bracebridge, ON – 3 February 2017
Davey offered full time employment with work outdoors and with great employees, management and benefits. Working as an arborist, doing tree work for residential, commercial, utility and municipal contracts kept the experience and work quite unique and challenging.
very production oriented, dollar value of daily work is top priority
arborist (Former Employee) – hamilton/Burlington – 29 July 2016
This well established Tree care company is losing its market share with clients and qualified staff. Davey Tree has lost sight of the value of its hard working employees and valued customer and its only focus is chasing the dollar, poor customer service abounds and hard work is not appreciated by management, The company does not adhere to its own safety policies some equipment is out dated and simply not available, Staff reviews and increase in pay rate is non existent and rates are 25 to 30 per cent lower than the industry norm. There are many other well established companies that have overtaken Davey in this field.
poor pay, negative work environment, no employee loyalty.

no reward for good job done no way advancement with descent pay, the best money is leaving out because you get living allowance, which make descent pay check, the work is hard, but relation can be made, training new guys slow production down, and field supervisors are sometimes asholes, but its a job, I have been with company almost 30 years and it pays the bills
leaving out allowance
leaving away, for several years, only to be home on weekends
Fast paced work requiring a particular set of skills
Groundsman/Climber (Former Employee) – Hamilton, ON – 29 June 2015
A day with Davey Tree is exactly what you would expect within a trades job. A good group of guys willing to put in a hard days work and somehow end up sharing a few laughs along the way, The most important part about taking trees down is making sure you're doing it safely. That's the most important part about the job for yourself, and your co-workers. Davey is well managed and what they expect of you is made clear. The hardest part of the job, like any other, is waking up in the morning and make sure you arrive to the shop on time, you're ready to go and nothing changes that. The most enjoyable part of being an arborist, for me at least, was the climbing. Being paid to climb a tree is a pretty unique feeling because though its work, it can be fun.
Good place to work, generally safety orientated, fun place and people to work with, not great pay

The Davey Tree Expert Company provides residential and commercial tree and landscape service throughout North America.
Davey tree has been a good reputable company i ever work for. they take care of their employees and have excellent equipments to complete the job. besides that, my co-workers were so nice and sociable at work. the hardest part of the job is when its snow too much and gets really cold outside because the chemicals freezes and we can't be able to do the job.
