Fun work environment. Do your job and you will be rewarded
Captain (Current Employee) – Oakville, ON – 14 April 2017
Attitude is everything here at Dave and Busters. Come in with a smile and do what the job entails and you will be greeted by positive feedback either by customers, coworkers & management. Some departments are over staffed and others not, which results in people fighting for hours etc...
A Captain's job is more in line with Customer Service first and Security second. So don't go and expect to be bouncers at a club throwing people out.
Being able to talk a person down out of a possible violent situation is your best weapon. If you cant do that then dont bother applying. But if you come with the attitude that you want to learn more as you work then you will enjoy your time at Dave and Busters.
Friendly coworkers and environment
Depending on your department you may not get the hours you were promised or wanted
Server (Former Employee) – Oakville, ON – 12 April 2017
Very rude; they talk about you to other employees- unprofessional. They overwork you, when you ask for a break they get annoyed or act as if its coming out of their pocket for you to take a break- feel uncomfortable even taking a breaking.
Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) – Vaughan, ON – 23 February 2017
Though they often talk about hiring from withing and having large pep rallys, during my 4 year tenure despite high managerial and supervisor turnover there were no permanent promotions from the hourly staff.
Line-Cook (Former Employee) – Vaughan, ON – 9 November 2016
Was a great place to work expect for lack of job security and advancement, working forty hour work weeks was great experince, Mangement was stellar very approachable, with co workers who were flexiable with shift coverage
Line Cook (Current Employee) – Vaughan, ON – 13 January 2016
During the week Dave and Busters is not busy. On the weekend it is very busy. everyone has their job to do, and everyone does their part. There are many managers, many nice and friendly co-workers. Getting the food out on time on a busy day may be the hardest part of the job. the most enjoyable part of the job is having fun while getting work done.
A fun and friendly enviornment where you feel safe, and loved
Hostess (Former Employee) – Vaughan, ON – 11 November 2015
A typical day at work is usually busy and straight to business. Jolly and friendly environment where you can have fun and be outgoing as long as your still working keeping the guests happy. The co-workers and myself all considered each other family. Everyone is friendly and sociable as well as the mangers. Good management team, they always know how to get the job done. The most enjoyable part about working at Dave&Busters is that you are having fun while you're working. You could be yourself and enjoy your shift.
Service Support (Current Employee) – Vaughan Ontario – 23 October 2014
The typical day at dave and busters is full of tedious work but the people make it better. the problem is that the managers dont communicate well and theres no open forum to trade shifts so its difficult to swap or trade shifts. otherwise its not that bad
Senior Server and Special Events Server (Current Employee) – Concord, ON – 17 July 2014
A typical day at work is preparing the micros stations and ensuring all of the tables are clean and ready for guests. Have a smile on your face at all times and make sure each guest is always happy and satisfied. It is important to maintain the back of house and ensure all team members know their nightly duties and responsibilities.
Waiter (Former Employee) – Vaughan, ON – 31 March 2014
I worked here as a waiter for less than a year. I only wanted to save money to pay for school fees and it was mainly for the summer, but I ended up working until Christmas. Most of the staff were students like myself, so I was among people I had a lot in common with. It was a fun experience overall.
