Title of Position: HR Assistant (Site)

Job Duties:

  • Act at the single point of contact for all HR concerns on site; making notes about any interactions with employees and forwarding all documentation to the HR Coordinator
  • Handling disciplinary matters, as per Davco’s progressive disciplinary policy; conducting disciplinary meetings and administering all official company notices on site
  • Administering any HR paperwork requested from employees on site; including but not limited to confirmations of employment, apprenticeship paperwork, etc
  • Administering apprenticeship acceptance and release cards for employees on site; ensuring new hires fill out acceptance cards in a timely manner and that departing employees fill out release cards before their final day of work
  • Reporting reason for resignation to the HR Coordinator for trend analysis; ensuring that reports of resignation are done in a timely manner
  • Reporting any terminations from Davco to the HR Coordinator for trend analysis; ensuring that terminations are done with just cause and following Davco’s disciplinary procedure
  • Collaborating with the HR Coordinator to handle any employee complaints about wages, working conditions, etc.
  • With the HR Coordinator, administer probationary meetings on site; presenting probationary letters from the HR Coordinator and conducting probationary reviews with employees; forwarding any concerns to the HR Coordinator
  • Addressing any concerns or questions about pay discrepancies and following up with the Payroll Administrator to address any problems presented
  • Ensure that subcontractors have submitted their required paperwork (Insurance, WCB, PST, etc) prior to starting any work on site
  • Ability to maintain consistent communication with the HR Coordinator; providing regular updates and emailing paperwork for employee files
  • Act as a liaison with the Project Manager regarding all manpower needs and concerns
  • Ensure all paperwork during new employee orientation is filled out accurately and sent back to the Wainwright office on the same day

Terms of Employment:

  • Wage: negotiable, depending on experience level
  • Hours of Work: 6:45am – 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • Overtime may be available
  • Benefits Offered: Eligible for benefits after three months of employment. The benefits package is currently insured through Sunlife and includes: prescription drug coverage, emergency travel health assistance, coverage for paramedical services, dental coverage, optical coverage, short-term disability, long-term disability and life insurance coverage, more details will be available for candidates selected for interviews.
  • Work is located on our Rush Lake, SK job site

Skills requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 license (or other provincial equivalency) required; with clean drivers abstract
  • Current Safety Certification an asset; including CSTS, H2S Alive, First Aid and site specific orientation (Husky, TransCanada, etc)
  • Prior oilfield experience considered an asset
  • Previous work experience in a field or remote setting preferred
  • A post-graduate degree/diploma in HR considered an asset
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in HR considered an asset
  • CHRP member or candidate considered an asset.
