DUTIES
Operates simultaneous (bilingual) interpretation and public address systems.

Installs, configures and verifies multilingual and bilingual simultaneous interpretation systems, as well as the public-address system, for conferences and events.

Installs and operates program production equipment, including cameras, lighting and the portable broadcasting studio (air-pack) to video-record proceedings, provide webcasting services and provide better videoconference services.

Installs, configures, verifies, adjusts and operates audio / video recording equipment and all audio-visual equipment (projectors, screens, laptops and so on).

Moves furniture, chairs, tables, podiums and so on, to install and configure rooms.

Before and after an event, the Technician (Resource) must inform organizers and speakers about the usefulness and operation of equipment. This duty usually involves talking to the person concerned, to familiarize him or her with the equipment interface, and to explain and demonstrate how it works. The technician also informs and consults with organizers and speakers regarding the installation, interface, configuration and operation of their computer-based presentation equipment.

Lifts, carries and handles equipment weighing more than 50 kg. The technician (Resource) lifts equipment in vans, unloads the equipment and carries it to meeting rooms.

Arranges conference rooms, which includes lifting and being able to lift heavy objects, such as chairs, tables and podiums.

MANDATORY CRITERIA:

Education:

  • Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience is required

Experience:
Operates multilingual / bilingual simultaneous interpretation systems and public-address systems (minimum 1 year of experience).

Installs, configures and verifies multilingual and bilingual simultaneous interpretation systems, as well as the public-address system, for conferences and events (minimum 1 year of experience).

Installs and operates program production equipment, including cameras, lighting and the portable broadcasting studio (air-pack) to video-record proceedings, provide webcasting services and improve videoconference services (minimum 1 year of experience).

Possession of a valid driver’s licence

The candidate must own and wear CSA-approved steel-toe boots (not provided by PWGSC).
