Technical Project Manager

We are working to radically change what is possible with computers and are leading the effort to commercialize quantum computing.

D-Wave’s systems are multi-disciplinary in nature spanning physics, mechanical engineering, cryogenics engineering, low noise analog and digital electronics, conventional computer networking, and a low magnetic field environment. The company's flagship product, the D-Wave Two, is built around a novel superconducting quantum processor and is currently being used by customers such as Lockheed, NASA and Google.

Position: Technical Project Manager

D-Wave is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to join the Engineering team and help us move to the next stage in the commercialization of our technology and the next stage in the company’s growth.

Responsibilities:

Driving projects to successful completion
Identifying and removing risk
Project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and staffing
Liaising with the other technical teams and with customers
Establishing requirements, guiding technical development, and ensuring requirements are met
Driving the selection of the right technologies for the various hardware and software subsystems and interfaces
Providing technical expertise in areas of direct domain knowledge
Contributing to the development of the engineering tools and processes needed as the company grows
Hands-on work alongside the technical teams to troubleshoot and solve hard problems

Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Engineering or the equivalent education and experience
15+ years of experience in the design and development of complex multi-disciplinary products, at least 7 years of which were in project engineering and project management
Experience in the product development life cycle from concept through to stable production
A track record of successfully bringing products to market and supporting them in the field
Strong organizational and decision making skills with the ability to quickly make decisions based on limited and sometimes contradictory information
The ability to quickly adjust path based on new information
A good understanding of engineering and physics with strong multi-disciplinary technical skills
Excellent critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving skills
Excellent written & verbal communication
Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment that is focused on priorities and end results
A track record of high productivity and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Experience in building teams
Self-motivated, proactive, and flexible
Passionate about learning and driven to build things
