Coteau Books invites applications for the position of Office Manager/ Bookkeeper. Responsible for keeping the financial accounts of the press, handling shipping/receiving and related duties, as well as facilitating the operation of a five-person office. Ideal candidate is able to thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment, a high degree of initiative and independent action is necessary.
The Office Manager/Bookkeeper will be responsible for:
-maintaining financial records, including all A/R, A/P, preparation of cheques, issuing royalty and other payments to authors, preparing monthly p/l, sales and other reports, preparing financials for grant applications and reports, and working with auditors
-managing inventory, shipping/receiving, filling in-house and website book orders, supervising annual inventory, processing sales reports from sales agencies, generating sales and inventory reports
-managing office facility and operating expense budgets, maintenance of facilities and all office equipment, including computer environment/website
-assisting in personnel matters, maintaining the Coteau benefits plan and vacation/sick leave records
-recording and tracking submissions, and other database entry as required
Coteau is seeking an individual who has training and several years’ experience in:
- accounting, bookkeeping and office procedures – extensive experience using Simply Accounting required
- operating other PC computer programs -- Excel; Word; Internet programs
- The position does involve lifting and shipping of boxes of books; the physical
ability to do so is required
This full-time, permanent position will start January 6, 2014. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a benefits package.
