Corpus Christi College: Appointment in PHILOSOPHY
Corpus Christi College, the Catholic liberal arts College located at St. Mark’s College, in Vancouver, British Columbia, invites applications for a three year contingent position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek an outstanding and enthusiastic scholar who has demonstrated excellence in teaching, with an openness and keenness regarding interdisciplinary and cross-curricular learning and academic program development. Areas of specialization and concentration are open; however the successful candidate will be able to teach from amoung the following course areas:
- Major periods/ epochs, from ancient-classical to modern-contemporary;
- Aristotelian and Thomistic Philosophy;
- Philosophical Foundations of Catholic Theology;
- Critical Thinking;
- Ethics and Business Ethics;
- Major themes in Philosophy of Religion;
- The Human Person
The position is focussed on a strong teaching load for a growing undergraduate Associate of Arts degree program emphasizing the liberal arts in the Catholic intellectual tradition. The position may also provide for the teaching of pre-requisite Philosophy courses for admission to the graduate programs of St. Mark’s College. The successful candidate will be carrying a teaching load of up to six  courses/classes throughout a Fall-Winter-Spring academic term, and will also be expected to share in some administrative responsibilities of the College, including attending meetings of the Education Council and participating in some of its related duties.
This position is designed as a three year appointment, and will run from August 1, 2013 to July 31, 2016. While applicants with a minimum degree of Master of Arts may apply, preference will be given to applicants who have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. or equivalent degree (including defence of the doctoral dissertation) by the date the appointment begins. Salary range is from $42,000 to $55,000, depending on experience and assigned administrative responsibilities, and includes benefits.
