Corpus Christi College: Appointment in ENGLISH
Corpus Christi College, the Catholic liberal arts College located at St. Mark’s College, in Vancouver, British Columbia, invites applications for a three year contingent position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek an outstanding and enthusiastic scholar who has demonstrated excellence in teaching, with an openness and keenness regarding interdisciplinary and cross-curricular learning and academic program development. The successful candidate will be familiar with instruction in reading and intellectual reflection.
The successful candidate will be familiar with:
- instruction in reading and intellectual reflection;
- writing skills;
- literary genres (basic);
- major periods of English literature.
A specialty in the biblical and classical background to English literature and/or specialty in Canadian literature would be an asset.
The position is focussed on a strong teaching load for a growing undergraduate Associate of Arts degree program emphasizing the liberal arts in the Catholic intellectual tradition. The successful candidate will be carrying a teaching load of up to six  courses throughout a Fall-Winter-Spring academic term, and will also be expected to share in some administrative responsibilities of the College, including attending meetings of the Education Council and participating in some of its related duties.
This position is designed as a three year appointment, and will run from August 1, 2013 to July 31, 2016. While applicants with a minimum degree of Master of Arts may apply, preference will be given to applicants who have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. or equivalent degree (including defence of the doctoral dissertation) by the date the appointment begins. Salary range is from $42,000 to $55,000, depending on experience and assigned administrative responsibilities, and includes benefits.
