Purpose: In this challenging position as a member of the Finance team in the Vancouver office, your primary responsibility will be managing payroll and client invoicing. The right candidate will possess minimum 2 to 3 years in managing payroll systems and processes. This position has significant opportunities for advancement with the right candidate progressing to the Senior Accountant role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compiles payroll data, and enters data , and reconciles errors, to maintain payroll records
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for a staff of 200 employees, including unionized payroll
  • Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data
  • Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with contracts (union and non-union)
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations
  • Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Process and input invoices into Accounts Payable program
  • Complete client work orders daily
  • Prepare and complete client invoicing

Experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a payroll management role
  • Experience with computerized accounting systems
  • Advanced excel skills are required
  • Experience in a unionized environment – an asset

Education

  • Minimum of a two year Diploma in the area of Accounting, Business Administration or related program is required
  • CGA or CMA designation program
