Job Description:

The Area Rental Service Manager (ARM) is a mechanic with strong people skills, responsible for maintaining a fleet of rental equipment (skid steers, chippers, trenchers, mini-excavators, etc) in a group of The Home Depot stores in the vicinity. You will travel from store-to-store to repair equipment and manage the rental operation. We are looking for an "Expert Mechanic" with customer relations skills. You will use your mechanic skills to keep the equipment "rental ready". Customer relations is paramount! During the course of the day, this position will:

Travel from store-to-store to repair downed equipment and provide preventive maintenance
Work closely with The Home Depot associates to foster support of the program
Collect rental contracts and submit to the Corporate office in a timely manner.
Mitigate issues at the store level to prevent write-downs and ensure customer satisfaction
Provide associates / customers with basic training on equipment operation and safety
Ensure equipment is always operational
Visually inspect equipment for damages, cleanliness, and proper placement within the parking lot
Organizing transportation of the equipment as needed (delivery/pickup)
Train other personnel on equipment.

Required Experience:

Strong mechanical ability
Strong light construction equipment maintenance skills
Experience, ability and desire to provide superior customer service
Excellent communication skills
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work independently
Landscape, equipment rental, construction background a definite plus.
Compact construction equipment (trenching and earthmoving machines)
Small engine maintenance and repair
Equipment hydraulics
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs safely
Principles of customer service
Ability to work effectively with different personality types and levels of employees
Administrative skills for documenting and reporting information on equipment (Excel, Microsoft office email, etc.)
Ability to travel within assigned area, occasionally overnight
Background free of felony convictions
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (ability to drive in a CMV capacity)

Required Education:
High School - Preferable 4 year degree
