Position Summary:

Reporting to the Alberta HSE Manager, the Health, Safety, & Environment Administrative Assistant will provide effective administrative assistance to our HSE team and assist HSE with leadership and coaching to all departments that will result in a more efficient health and safety support system. Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and company policies/procedures, the HSE Administrative Assistant is energetic, motivated and highly organized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the HSE team by maintaining documents relating to the following:

-All incidents reports
-Safety training documentation/certification
-Contractor paperwork
-HSE policies (Hazard Assessments, Safe Work Practices, Work Procedure, ERP’s, etc.)
-All safety related meetings and Workplace Safety Inspections
-Maintenance Program
-Yearly safety audit

  • Maintain Comco’s personal protective equipment matrix
  • Research and assist with the preparation of safety meeting agendas and record minutes as required
  • Review and follow up with all incident reports and track incident costs
  • Assist with the creation, development, review and monitoring of current Safe Work Practices, Hazard Assessments and Work Procedures
  • Assist with near miss, incident and employee complaint investigations, determine trends and root causes, develop corrective action plans and follow up to prevent re-occurrence
  • Assist with monthly inspections of the fire and first aid equipment and PPE stations at multiple locations
  • Design and maintain health and safety boards at multiple locations

Working Conditions:

  • Interacts with employees, management and the public at large
  • Combination of office, warehouse, and outdoor work required
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations in front of varying groups of people
  • Lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be required
  • Travel within Edmonton region may be required
  • Overtime may be required


  • Minimum certification:

-Strong administrative and above average proficiency in Microsoft Office products
-Previous experience, preferably in a health and safety role and/or construction/warehousing environment
-Ability to communicate effectively with all employees within our organization
-Working towards and/or completed a post-secondary level Occupational Health & Safety Program, NCSO, HSA or equivalent with up to date knowledge of Alberta OH&S Legislation, WCB, Alberta PIR/COR
-Standard or advanced first aid certification
-Valid class 5 driver’s license with a safe driving record
