Freedom to make own schedule, fun working with lots of customers
Real Estate Agent (Current Employee), Manchester, NHAugust 21, 2014
Pros: meeting new people, variety during the day, sometimes free lunches, lots of educational classes
Cons: long hours, on call all the time, hard to make a steady paycheck
This position requires a good work balance, self-starter with good work ethics. Because you make your own schedule it's difficult to establish a routine, but you meet a lot of different kinds of people, some who become good friends. The hardest part of the job is making a steady income.

Realtor Assistant (Former Employee), Topeka, KSAugust 12, 2014
Pros: free snacks and drinks
Cons: not many hours available; minimal growth
Days are not typical at this job. Every day I did something different, like updating calendars, contact books, or putting open house folders together. I learned more about the realtor world and what goes into selling a house. I didn't have any co workers here except my manager. The hardest part of the job was learning to navigate my manager's websites, – more... and the most enjoyable part was having drinks and snack s provided, and the quiet environment. – less

Sales Associate/Realtor (Current Employee), Atlanta, GAAugust 7, 2014
A typical day at work would be business training/meetings, making phone calls for new prospects, researching properties, setting up appointments, taking clients to see homes, etc. The management is friendly and always pushes you to make goals and achieve your goals. My co-workers are friendly and encouraging as well. The hardest part of the job is that – more... it is commission based and it is not financially consistent enough to take care of a family. The most enjoyable part of the job is helping customers either find a home or sale their home and the flexibility of the work hours. – less

Take clients, via golf cart, around real estate development showing clients properties for sale or drive them to other off-site properties.

Learned to handle some disappointment. Some buyers are liars!

Supportive management.

Co-workers become best friends.

Hardest part of job: Rental evictions.

Most enjoyable: Beautiful development on the Intracoastal.

Realtor (Former Employee), Colleyville, TXJuly 26, 2014
Pros: chance for income increase.
Cons: long hours that included nights, week-ends and holidays.
Coldwell Banker was one of the best companies I had the opportunity to work with in real estate. There is always room for advancement. I was just getting my clientele built up when we moved to the Houston area. I was self employed so there were no benefits but I knew that the next year my sales would have increased and would compensate for the lack – more... of benefits.

The job required working nights, weekends and holidays and usually seven days a week. It was a life style not a job. The first two years in a real estate company are the hardest because that is when you are building your clientele which requires extensive marketing and networking, After that, the referrals start coming in and it pays off.

I developed sales skills, negotiating skills, marketing skills and computer skills. My favorite part of real estate sales was getting to work with people from all over the United States. I enjoy being around people. – less

Shattered dreams
Real Estate Referral Agent (Current Employee), Ridgefield, CTJuly 22, 2014
Pros: i am my own boss
Cons: dealing with people.i miss the interaction of day to day contact.
As a referral agent I am self-employed and affiliated with a real estate brokerage company. Therefore, I only get compensated for the business I bring in. .Due to the regulatory nature of this market and the highly competitive issue of too many agents chasing too few deals, I have found it necessary to seek employment outside of real estate sales..
