Main Purpose & Function
The Supervisor, Web Performance plans, organizes, coordinates and monitors the delivery of various web performance activities that maintain and enhance the efficient and effective delivery of the City and Park Board online information, services and engagement opportunities through implementation of digital research and best practices. This position applies in-depth knowledge of user-centered design. Reporting to the Manager, Web Operations, this position ensures that corporate standards and objectives are met by liaising closely with Corporate Communications,
IT staff, and departmental subject matter experts across the organization in the development and implementation of web standards and practices.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Plans, assigns, sets priorities, trains, supervises and reviews the work of a small team of publishing staff who are responsible for the research and analysis of data, including web analytics; recommendations & solutions for online functionality, interaction, content & presentation; user experience; and site navigation. Ensures knowledge of corporate policies and procedures, web processes, workflows, and related developments remains current. Investigates and resolves or liaises with business units to resolve escalated problems. Establishes and maintains liaison with business units and other applicable internal and external contacts; and provides advice and assistance to users and senior staff regarding enhancements and functionality of various projects.
Produces intuitive requirements documentation to be used by in product development, quality assurance, content management, design and other parts of the city’s digital enterprise as necessary. Will create and manage user interface documentation where required (wire frames, personas, user flows, navigation schemas and site maps). In addition, acts as a project leader and develops work priorities, objective and scope. Other duties/responsibilites as assigned.

A University or professional college degree in user experience design, human-computer interaction, information design, industrial design, visual arts, graphic design or technical communication, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Usability Analyst Certification through Human Factors International or project management certification is an asset. 5+ years with direct, progressive experience applying principles of information
design and web usability in senior web information architecture/UI/UX positions is required. 1-2 years experience as a Supervisor of a small team is preferred.

Thorough understanding of current and emerging user-centered design and related design methodologies, and best practices in web information architecture, usability, and design, along with a strong understanding of current and emerging interactive web-based applications, HTML-prototyping, standard user experience software and general content management systems is required. Strong orientation toward detail, customer service and creativity in problem-solving, expertise in relating to vendors, stakeholders and colleagues. The ability to communicate effectively; a strong sense of accountability and commitment to end-user advocacy. Strong sense of accountability and commitment to end-user advocacy, with demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and respond to requests in a timely manner. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Proficiency with MS Office Suite is required. The ability to exercise sound, fair and independant judgement; and the ability to analyze and make recommendations and decisions is required.
