This CUPE, Local 841 position is under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Roads and Transportation, conducts surveys, collects data, updates and summarizes data & maintenance standards, provides recommendations through the preparation of internal reports, responds to transportation inquiries based on approved maintenance standards and prepares plans relating to Transportation programs and projects. Assists in the administration with Transportation Programs such as: Traffic signal and streetlight maintenance, traffic signal system monitoring and timing revisions, traffic by-law revisions and consolidation, conventional and specialized transit system, traffic volume data collection, adult crossing guard, municipal parking lot and permits, vehicle maintenance & CVOR, pavement marking and other associated programs as required.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum three (3) year Post Secondary School Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology together with five (5) years experience in a transportation engineering related fields. Must have or be eligible to obtain a C.E.T. designation from OACETT. Must be proficient with Ministry of Transportation Standards and Traffic Engineering Manuals and have Level 2 Auto Cad Training or equivalent (1 – 2 years) experience with the operation of a Computer Aided Drafting System (AutoCAD) and use Microsoft Office products and Transportation Engineering Analysis Software and Modelling Programs.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
May be required to work outside and beyond the normal hours of work. A valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence is required. The use of a privately owned vehicle may be required.
Salary range is $53,305 – $66,690 (2013 rates) per annum working 37.5 hours per week plus a comprehensive benefit package.
