The City of Brooks requires a Recreation Facility Operator/Parks Maintenance I in the Recreation & Parks Services Departments. This is a permanent full time position, which involves winter work in Recreation and summer work in Parks. The incumbent will participate fully in all Recreation and Parks activities within the assigned range of responsibilities. Incumbents must be experienced in ice surface preparation, ice maintenance, custodial, and building maintenance techniques relating to Recreation Facilities. The incumbent will require an ability to operate and maintain all Parks related machinery and equipment and must be familiar with landscape construction. Other duties will include tree pruning, irrigation maintenance, and other general park maintenance duties. Operation of all related machinery, equipment, and vehicles as required in both departments.
Minimum of a Grade Twelve education or equivalency is required. A minimum of a Class 5 Driver’s License is required. Arena Operator I and Pool Operator I are desired. Applicants must possess previous experience and knowledge of arena and swimming pool operations, general building maintenance and construction techniques, and/or landscape construction and maintenance. WHMIS training and First Aid certification would also be an asset.
The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefit package with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032. The 2013 starting wage for the Recreation Facility Operator/Parks Maintenance I position is $20.32. The Collective Agreement including wages can be found online at www.brooks.ca.
