The City of Brooks requires a municipal employee for the full-time position of R.C.M.P. Clerk at the R.C.M.P. office. This incumbent will be responsible for assisting and supporting members of the Detachment wherever possible by performing a wide variety of secretarial duties including typing, transcribing, and computer data entry while meeting strict deadlines. This position involves a great deal of interaction with R.C.M.P. members, the public, coworkers and other professionals. To be successful, the incumbent must be able to deal politely, effectively and professionally with people in a wide variety of situations and under difficult circumstances. Much of the information dealt with is confidential in nature and therefore a high degree of care must be exercised to ensure such information is released only to authorized personnel.
The applicant must have completed the twelfth (12th) school grade, or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of previous office experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The successful candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills, good problem solving skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast paced office environment. The position may involve shift work (5 week rotation & varies Monday to Saturday from 7:45 AM to 6:00 PM), and commencement to the position is subject to an extensive security clearance.
The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefit package with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032. The 2014 starting salary range for this position is $21.06 - $25.66 per hour.
