Service Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Generate new revenue, bring new customers while maintaining good relationships with existing customers. Make use of existing customer lists from former customers.
  • Directing and coordinating activities of various team of service personnel

o Hiring, discharging and assisting in the training of employees weekly team meetings with service technicians
o Bi-annual employee reviews
o Reviewing operational expenses and collection reports for accuracy
o Authorizing the acquisition of tools, equipment and parts
o Troubleshooting automotive problems and recommending services by listening to customers’ description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules

  • Verifying warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers
  • Developing estimates by costing materials, supplies and labor
  • Developing customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle arranging towing and temporary transportation

o obtaining customers’ approval of estimates
o making sure garage is organized and up to health and safety
o Insures ample supplies and equipment are on hand
o Processes necessary paperwork for ordering, processing of required billing
o Weekly time sheets, leaves and disciplinary actions are also the responsibility of the Service Manager

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with heavy equipment or heavy trucks in a truck shop or a bus service center
  • Experience in a supervisor or manager role at a truck/bus/heavy equipment sales or service center
  • Strong communication skills to work with customers, suppliers, upper management and employees
  • Detail-oriented, trouble-shooting skills needed to make unusual diagnoses
  • Technical and mechanical skills
  • Basic accounting skills to create an invoice
  • Basic Sales skills to upsell our products/services and bring in new clientele
  • Must be a team player
  • A positive attitude
  • Strong problem solver
  • Good leadership skills
