The Opportunity

In this permanent position, under the direction of the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Rate Analyst is responsible for pricing over-the-road shipments, in-depth profitability analysis, liaising with Logistics for solutions and managing deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Pricing: Develop sustainable rates in a timely fashion that are both consistent with our corporate goals and meet our operational needs.
Analysis: Utilizing In-house software for lane and RFP analysis to maximize profitability.
Project Management: Coordinate the responses to bids/tenders to ensure all departments have provided the required information so that deadlines are met.
Liaising: Work very closely with our Partner Carrier Network for optimal rate negotiations.
Communication: Ongoing, active and frequent interaction with Carriers and the Logistics department to ensure the opportunities presented fit our requirements and capacity.
Troubleshooting: Work with Invoicing to support any requirements they may have with respect to rates and billing.
Update and maintain our quotation history software.
Excellent ability to deal directly with internal team members and customers via phone or email.

Primary Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Economics, Mathematics or a related field an asset.
Transportation experience/knowledge preferred.
Ability to work independently on projects.
Advanced computer skills with databases and spreadsheets.
A quick learner, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Highly Competent in the use of MS Office, highly skilled with MS Excel.
Possess a good working knowledge of the geography of North America.
To work with team members, in a positive and supportive manner.
Ability to handle difficult situations with internal and external customers.
Willingness to take the initiative in making improvements and resolving issues.
Great time management and organizational skills.

Monday to Friday: approximately 8:00am to 5:00pm
