An immediate three-year postdoctoral visiting fellow position of bioinformatics and computational biology is available at Cereal Research Center, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. This position focuses on the flax genome sequence assembly and finishing, SNP discovery and genotyping by sequencing, genome database development, and bioinformatics tool and algorithm development for next-generation sequencing. This position is supported by funds from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. This position is located in Winnipeg and Morden, MB, Canada.
Ph.D. in a related discipline (the natural sciences) from a recognized university within the past five years and a strong publication record.
Demonstrated experience with computer programming. Expertise in at least one of C, C++, Java, Python or Perl is a must.
Experience with managing large datasets and database administration.
Expertise with the UNIX/Linux platform.
Experience with sequence assembly, alignment, genomic sequence analysis, functional genomics, and genotyping. The ideal candidate will have experience with next-generation sequencing data processing.
The candidate is expected to simultaneously work on multiple projects, involving an interdisciplinary team of scientists across multiple laboratories.
Experience in high-performance computing, biostatistics or population genomics is a plus.
$47,234 per year (one year, renewable for up to two more years)
