Walk on egg shells around management
Project Manager (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB12 December 2017
Management says "tell us what needs fixing so that we can address it", however those who speak up are alienated and in some cases laid off. Unfortunate that this has happened to a place that used to be looked as the most sought after employer in town.

Great place to work, energetic employee base with a string sense of dedication and understanding of the business. Quite the experience and thrill to work for such a team.

Heavy Equipment Technician (Current Employee) –  Eckville, AB21 November 2017
This company has too much middle management and little to no direction from upper management. The company keeps going up for sale, and changing hands. This can make it a stressful work environment. The physical work itself is great.
Pros
good salary/benefits, good rotation
Cons
too much micromanaging

Warehouse technician (Former Employee) –  Christina Lake, AB14 September 2017
It is difficult to work away from home, but the company and coworkers were very good overall. A 7/7 shift with a 12 hour day is tough but very rewarding.

Too much uncertainty
Sr. H&S Advisor based in field (Former Employee) –  Wabasca, AB30 August 2017
Great people, real family atmosphere. Managements philosophy of open and honest is a bit to their detriment because their peers are not doing the same.

All this being said the uncertainty of the future is too much to take I am moving on to a different company or industry.

Group Leader (Former Employee) –  Cold Lake, AB14 August 2017
Integrating industry operations with those of DND. Significant driving required. Emergency management interface with all industry stakeholders.

Very difficult to manage expectations and fears of all employees.

Political challenges were the most demanding aspect of the job, in that maintaining industry's ability to expand and produce whilst not impacting DND's ability to train.

Enjoyed the interface with all companies very much.
Pros
Good Benifits
Cons
Long hours, many afterhours requirements

Moral Really hurting
Shift Lead (Former Employee) –  Christina Lake, AB18 July 2017
Cut, cut and cut. Every time there is a business announcement it seems something in the field gets cut. Moral is very low and all flights were but Calgary and Edmonton after they recruited in Saskatoon, Loyd, Kelowna and Medicine Hat.
Pros
good gym
Cons
no trust in the cuts or how far they will go

Process & De-oiling Area Technician (Former Employee) –  Conklin, AB11 May 2017
Cenovus has a good work culture and high professionalism within its ranks. That is shown by low SOR, and industry-leading safety standards. However, it needs to maintain its experienced staff which will be vital for next up turn ( prevent attrition).
