We are seeking a Unix Systems Administrator to work as a member of our existing team which is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and building all aspects of our systems’ technology. In this position, being part of the team supporting these diverse properties, there is a range of primarily Linux and networking technologies to work with, room to make contributions, and expert guidance to help you achieve success. You will ensure uptime of all systems via active on-call monitoring, improving automated monitoring, and improving consistency of implementation as well as general improvements to reduce faults from occurring in the first place. Additionally, we are constantly improving our internal and customer-facing properties, so there is a never a dull moment.


  • Diagnose hardware and software problems, and replace defective components
  • Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting and bug resolution of application errors contributing to the continued reliability of the company’s services
  • Maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems
  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware
  • Execute new system roll-outs, migrations and modifications
  • Perform routine network start up and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records
  • Overall system and server-side security including server “hardening” and on-going improvements and enhancements to our existing infrastructure
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Perform routine network start up and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records
  • Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, personal digital assistants, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes
  • Assume independent on-call responsibilities outside of regular business hours

  • Deep Linux knowledge of Linux versions including CentOS Linux
  • Mail knowledge including Postfix, PowerMTA and Zimbra
  • Web server knowledge including Apache, MySQL, and PHP
  • Source control via Subversion
  • Remote access technologies including OpenVPN, SSH, RDP, and LogMeIn
  • Security technologies such as IPtables, Cisco ASA, and Snort
  • General network understanding including wireless networking, wired networking, and TCP/IP
  • Good manner for the occasional desktop support request
