Plant Manager, Edmonton, AB - August 8, 2016
Being in middle management is terrible. Managers expected to pay out expenses and wait forever to get them paid back, if ever paid back at all. Company defaults on contracts with subcontractors and doesn't pay bills on time. Benefits package would be ok if HR could actually manage to set it up correctly and not way overcharge on payroll deductions for it. Ridiculously long hours are never recognized, but are needed to meet KPIs regardless of broken down equipment, unsafe facilities and insufficient staffing levels. Plant manager is on call 24-7-365. Toxic, backstabbing environment, including HR and other management out of Calgary. The only thing to be learned here is how to be a lowlife if you want to survive and maybe keep your job. HR in Vancouver is nice but seems afraid to step in on some unethical staffing practices.
