The hours were killer. Alot of overtime demanded at last minute when silos did not empty due to equipment malfunctions/repairs.
The culture at the Mason City plant was all in who you know and very clique. Gossip was everywhere as was double standards.
The quality was compromised in lieu of quantity. Many GMP SSOP and safety violations rampant.

Great place with many perks you wouldn't find anywhere else. Corporate office has a service garage where you can get your car worked on while you work, there is a great cafeteria with many choices for food, a coffee shop, and even a store - much like a Hallmark store. In this position my main role was to make certain we were producing what we needed on a daily basis that met our customer demands as well what made sense from a business perspective.

I enjoyed working there.cause it was busy and a fast pace place. Time went by quick while at work. The only thing was a mnus was that i was working over night.I leave home around 4pm and got off any where around 5am to 8 am. I didnt mind the long work days but i didnt get to see or spend no time with my kids.

Best company I have worked for. Employees are important to them.

Enjoyed learning different aspects of the production work environment. Given the opportunity to add my knowledge and experience from previous employer to improve cycle time on a particular process. Management was open to ideas and was willing to give them a try if it seemed reasonable. It was fun times.

Great working atmosphere, people are calm and focused and very secure in their jobs.

They are big on process, and have a lot of talent.

Management is thoughtful and will give you what you need to get the job done.

The co-workers are very helpful, although they do suffer from "silo" syndrome.

Cargill gave me an opportunity to learn many skills. I learned to weld, fabricate, rebuild equipment, computer skills, and to become more of a people person.

a typical day at work for a computer operator in shipping department was pretty easy all you had to do was be able to multitask and keep up with twelve orders at a time or being able to help with a customers questions.
what i have learned at Cargill is that through good work comes great rewards. Management was always there to help when needed. My coworkers – more... were my best part of the job it was always fun to be able to go to work and meet new people. Our jobs came first but we always had a fun time doing it. I would say the hardest part of the job for me was when i had to help and explain to a customer why their shipments at times would be late. I worked with an awesome group of people and my manager was great. I wish I could have stayed on longer. The hours were great and fit well into my family schedule.

Cleaned out grain bins, and made sure the plant was clean at all times. Learned a lot about farming and working with customers coming into the plant to drop a load of grain off. Worked with awesome co-workers fun and energetic. Loaded rail cars was the hardest part of the job flipping lids and closing lids on the cars. Cargill is a great place to work and build a career. There are numerous opportunities within the company that are varied enough to have a different career within the same company.

Excel was very rewarding in that I was able to see and do a lot of complicated repairs on sophisticated automated meat processing lines. I really don't like working third shift and after a few years it was time for me to leave. i started at regular production from housekeeping tote opener palet stacker meat packer did all that for 4 months became a machince operator i would set up machince follow all safety procedures and rules keep up with production keep area clean and safe when finished break down machince and clean up

I really hated having to leave this company. I held so many positions within this company that its hard to list them all. The details are in my resume for the most part. The management team was very understanding and encouraged internal promotions. Ive updated and maintained MSDS books within the entire facility, conducted chemistry tests, microbiology – more... tests, inprocess certification on new analyzers, certified to repair and train operators on several types of lab instruments, delt with customers, regulated inventory for more than 3 departments at a time, and was active on several committees. The latest department was sold and transferred out of state and the previous position I trained my techs to devy up my duties so the position was exempt. I was not promised a position within my field after the department was finalized so I looked elsewhere for employment and found myself in my first management role. So I took the opportunity to advance my experience elsewhere. – less

I have advanced myself here very quickly, seems though I have maxed out so to speak.

I had fun working here. The managers were friendly and nice. The training staff was also very respectful.
