Sr. Controller Primary Role
Perform all functions and responsibilities while upholding the company’s values and beliefs. The Controller is responsible for recording and maintaining accurate records of financial transactions and preparation of financial reports. The Controller reports directly to the VP of Finance and oversees the Accounts Payable, Receiveable and Accounting Administrators. The Controller will reconcile accounts, analyze financial data, review and monitor budgeting, monitor sales, as well as will provide assistance to the VP of Finance and President whenever needed. Attention to detail and accuracy are paramount to this position. Uphold company and project policies and ensure all financial activity is managed in accordance with our processes and policies.

Skill, Experience and Knowledge Base Requirements
Experience: What kind of experience should the occupant of the role have to perform well?
Minimum 10 years experience in similar role (includes articling time required for Accounting Designation). Experience in key areas of financial management and control (reporting, budgeting, cash management, costing and profitability analysis)
Exceptional organizational skills and results driven
Strong multi-tasking capabilities
Excellent understanding and experience with a computerized accounting system, and Microsoft office products.
Construction Industry understanding.
Knowledge: Market, business, operational, job specific?
General understanding of multi- family wood frame construction.
Understanding of commodity tax system (GST).
Understanding of the Worker’s Compensation Board Act
Customer Influence (education, training, service)
Exceptional conflict resolution and customer service skills
Ability to effectively negotiate with clients, contractors and vendors

B.Comm or equivalent
Accounting Designation (CGA, CMA, or CA)
