Progressive and growing company
Manager, Business Operations (Former Employee), Calgary, ABNovember 4, 2013
Pros: benefits were great!
Cons: work life balance was not always balanced, as workload was heavy!
Capital Power was a company which was spun off from EPCOR Utilities. Capital Power was a new company in a sense it allowed employees to learn and set the precedent of standards and procedures in their areas. As an employee you had the opportunity to excel if you took it!

Renewable Energy Trader (Former Employee), Calgary, ABApril 25, 2013
The head office is based out of Edmonton, Alberta, with trading and back and middle office functions based out of Calgary, AB. The office in Calgary has around 100-150 staff.

The most recent position that I managed was trading a book of REC assets (port opt and spec) and managing the NOx/SO2 compliance for US assets.

The most challenging part of this – more... opportunity was convincing an Alberta utility company of the potential of the US climate markets. I spent alot of the time explaining the product and not the strategy.

The people at Capital Power are very talented and knowledgeable about the Western power markets (PACNW, California and Alberta). – less
