This company brings together ideas, technology, and money. The Capital Markets Company, which does business as Capco, provides consulting and technology services to the financial services industry. It has expertise in such areas as e-commerce, processing, risk management, settlement, custody, exchanges, and operations. In addition to design and implementation of technology systems, the firm produces a quarterly journal focused on business finance and technology strategies, as well as bulletins and white papers. Founded in 1998, it has about a dozen offices in Asia, Europe, and North America. In late 2010, Capco was acquired by outsourcing and software provider Fidelity National Information Services (FIS).
Also catering to the financial services industry, FIS bought Capco for about $290 million in an effort to add to its product portfolio. FIS caters to 14,000 customers in more than 100 countries, including 40 of the world's 50 top banks.
In the midst of the global recession, in 2009 Capco launched a dedicated North American Banking Group division. The new unit expanded its global reach and is assisting financial institutions in dealing with job cuts and finding news ways to generate revenue and sustainable growth. – less
