Great cause to work for, HR and bureaucracy issues need improvement
Analyst (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 5 June 2017
Great employees to work with. work from home culture needs improvement as meeting rooms are limited and desk sharing is not an option. Management communication to staff is poor. Managers need to be results oriented and stop micro managing staff.
Campaign & Correspondence Dev/PM Consultant (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 29 May 2017
A noble cause led by tried and true public sector folks who are neither driven nor terribly interested in making plans come to fruition. Poor fiscal oversight, frightening management, zero team culture.
Project Analyst (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 10 January 2017
There is a lot of red tape and politics which makes it hard to get things done and improve existing processes. The agency is small and is very difficult to advance and get promoted to a higher position. There is a lack of learning opportunity. The agency doesn't promote continuously learning and there is lack of funding for training. It is a long winded process to make a case to get funding for training. It doesn't promote or try to obtain talent from within the organization. Thus, this leads to high turnover. It is a waste of taxpayers money.
Supportive work environment with ample opportunity to grow
Project Analyst (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 3 November 2016
Cancer Care Ontario is a great place to work. Management is extremely supportive and works hard to ensure that staff are being used to their full potential. The emphasis on career and personal development is apparent through their professional development initiatives. The work is meaningful and fulfilling.
A organisation in decline with an inept senior management team who cannot see the forest for the trees
Manager (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 4 July 2016
There is a total lack of vision and rudimentary understanding of integrated provincial health care delivery systems at the Executive level. No idea how to collaborate with regional stakeholders and their information systems to effectively manage data and outcomes.
This leads to continuous wasteful spending of tax payer dollars by duplication of effort, fixing poor quality data or continually changing strategy and direction after never ending consultation and evaluation. Anyone who disagrees or attempts to offer alternative viewpoint is marginalised and forced out.
HR only serves the senior management team to terminate dissenters, never asks or enquires as to what the root cause of the constant turmoil is. HR now attempting to drive down salaries by offering reduced earnings to staff who want to move internally.
Be cautious about working at CCO for the long term, this is an organisation going down hill fast.
Good salary and benefits
Revolving door and numerous recent resignations and manager terminations, lots of fluff and no substance within the senior executive team.
Quality Assurance Analyst (Co-op) (Former Employee) – Thunder Bay, ON – 25 December 2015
A very good platform to experience work. I joined as a student but I was considered work was given as a regular employee, good exposure to work and professional culture. Most enjoyable part was challenging deadlines and intresting work
Research Associate (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 19 August 2015
CCO has a good group of people who have a lot of fun work activities to increase morale and allow people within the organization to get to know each other. A lot of restructuring has happened with different departments/units however that has caused a lot of instability with current coworkers and their positions.
Hard to get contract renewed, but a fantastic opportunity
ASSOCIATE ANALYST (JR. DEVELOPER) (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 25 February 2014
Other than the fact that it's hard to get a renewal for contractors, or even shift into a permanent position, CCO is a fantastic place to work and I enjoyed my time there. I learned a few new skills from this place and was glad to give my contribution to the fight against cancer. Not many people talk to each other though...
Great pay, management is very open and transparent
hard to stay there, employee interaction is minimal
