Senior Financial Analyst (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON5 December 2016
Management is poor, minimal guidance given, salary is minimal, everybody working 9-7pm like it's normal. No advancement at all, it seems they have high turnover because of low salary.

Learned about the different services provided by the Cancer Care Ontario. Particularly the Activity Level Reporting program which transcends across the organization.

Supportive work environment with ample opportunity to grow
Project Analyst (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON3 November 2016
Cancer Care Ontario is a great place to work. Management is extremely supportive and works hard to ensure that staff are being used to their full potential. The emphasis on career and personal development is apparent through their professional development initiatives. The work is meaningful and fulfilling.

A organisation in decline with an inept senior management team who cannot see the forest for the trees
Manager (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON4 July 2016
There is a total lack of vision and rudimentary understanding of integrated provincial health care delivery systems at the Executive level. No idea how to collaborate with regional stakeholders and their information systems to effectively manage data and outcomes.

This leads to continuous wasteful spending of tax payer dollars by duplication of effort, fixing poor quality data or continually changing strategy and direction after never ending consultation and evaluation.
Anyone who disagrees or attempts to offer alternative viewpoint is marginalised and forced out.

HR only serves the senior management team to terminate dissenters, never asks or enquires as to what the root cause of the constant turmoil is. HR now attempting to drive down salaries by offering reduced earnings to staff who want to move internally.

Be cautious about working at CCO for the long term, this is an organisation going down hill fast.
Pros
Good salary and benefits
Cons
Revolving door and numerous recent resignations and manager terminations, lots of fluff and no substance within the senior executive team.

People in this organization are highly professionally; and there are also a number of new hires and such blend of staff makes it easy to relate with their different experiences.

Organization with good people and ambitious goals
Research Associate (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON19 August 2015
CCO has a good group of people who have a lot of fun work activities to increase morale and allow people within the organization to get to know each other. A lot of restructuring has happened with different departments/units however that has caused a lot of instability with current coworkers and their positions.

Hard to get contract renewed, but a fantastic opportunity
ASSOCIATE ANALYST (JR. DEVELOPER) (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON25 February 2014
Other than the fact that it's hard to get a renewal for contractors, or even shift into a permanent position, CCO is a fantastic place to work and I enjoyed my time there. I learned a few new skills from this place and was glad to give my contribution to the fight against cancer. Not many people talk to each other though...
Pros
Great pay, management is very open and transparent
Cons
hard to stay there, employee interaction is minimal

All SDLC deployment and Production support was done by me.
Some days were very long due to Production issues to be solved and other development chores to be done at the same time too.

RUN AWAY - unless you're a total slacker and love seeing nothing accomplished.
Ex-Screening Dept. (Former Employee) –  Toronto19 August 2013
Gotta love all the reviews written by 'lifer' pub sec slugs. CCO is a great place to learn jack. Except how to waste tax money and pretend that you're busy.
If you've ever entertained the idea of moving from the private sector to something 'meaningful' - spare yourself the grief.
I've witnessed nothing but pathetic, inept management and some of the most vengeful immature behaviour from people who should know better. What a terrible waste of a good cause and our hard earned tax money.
Read more accurate reviews elsewhere.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Pros
None
Cons
Zero upward mobility, must suck up, watch capable colleagues pushed out by incompetents fearing that they'll be discovered.

Interesting Work, feel like you make a difference
Project Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON21 March 2013
Overall, a great place to work. Pay is generally good, and the work is usually interesting, and you end up feeling like what you do will actually make a difference in the provincial cancer system.

There isn't much of a corporate culture, and the workforce is a bit older, so there is generally little socializing. Hours are good, and there is usually no need to stay late.

No formal advancement program.
Pros
good pay, interesting work
Cons
lack of culture
