Translator-Reviser
The Translator-Reviser is responsible for performing and coordinating the translation and revision of a variety of English texts for CNA into French. As part of the Publications team, the translator-reviser works closely with English editors and designers to ensure production of high-quality French documents.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Translates and/or revises text such as publications, web documents, meeting minutes, correspondence, media releases, etc. as assigned by the Manager of Publications
Ensures the translations are adapted to target audiences and reflect the delivery method (i.e. oral or written)
Compares the French language translations against the final English version of the material to ensure accuracy, consistency, and ease of reading
Adapts, revises, edits and proofreads French language documents to ensure accuracy and that the content is grammatically correct
Ensures speeches are written for the appropriate audience and reflect the speakers capacity
Conducts terminology research
Maintains the CNA translation and terminology database and ensures consistency in CNA documents.
Responds to member and public enquiries concerning nursing terminology
Coordinates workflow with external translators and revisers when required
Provides consultation services to staff
Occasional work outside regular business hours
KEY SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor's degree in translation
Five years of experience in translation
Experience in editing, revision and proofreading French language documents within a production publishing-oriented environment
Experience working with and updating terminology database software
Experience coordinating translation projects
Fluently bilingual (French and English)
Excellent command of French and English grammar and usage
Excellent knowledge of MS Office products and knowledge of LogiTerm
Excellent skills in researching terminology

Excellent problem-solving skills
Self-motivated, self-starter, creative
Ability to work independently and as part of a publications team

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Previous nursing, medical or health care translation experience
Certification by the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO)
