You may be interested in our opening for an Interim Director of Physical Facilities (30 - 35 hours per week), reporting to the Vice President, Finance. The incumbent direct and oversee the Division of Physical Facilities Department in supporting CMCC in its mission and vision in a proactive, responsible, and accountable manner. The Interim Director is responsible for maintaining the efficient, safe and functional operations of CMCC facilities and related equipment in support of CMCC’s students, employees, patients, and other visitors.

Your responsibilities would include mentoring and providing leadership and training to the Assistant Director of Physical Facilities with regard to establishing strategy, setting goals and managing a staff of 4 employees. Additionally, working with the Assistant, the incumbent will direct the management of the institution’s facilities, infrastructure and services. Successful leadership means you have/are:
 A proven track record in mentoring and developing leaders
 A strategic planner and effective manager
 Integrity, efficiency and safety in the operation of the facilities
 Comprehensive facilities’ management, including emergency preparedness and management thereof,that is proactive, pragmatic and cost effective
 Procurement, construction, repair and maintenance are conducted according to plan
 Deficiencies are remedied quickly and cost effectively
 Compliance with regulatory requirements and an excellent institutional health and safety record
 Excellent stakeholder relations

You would have the following qualifications and qualities:
Academic:

  • Degree or certification in facilities management

Skills & Competencies:

  • 10 years relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a management capacity in facilities and emergency preparedness management
  • Good interpersonal and negotiating skills with external and internal customers
  • Development and mentoring skills
  • Problem solver & decision maker
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to perform hands-on and on-call duties
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical, creative and analytical thinker
  • Customer focused with a ‘can do’ approach
  • Models professional attributes and the core values of CMCC, Communication,
