Network Specialist (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 5 December 2013
Everyday brought challenges of managing over 40+ sites in multiple provinces with widely different needs. In this supporting staff of over six hundered on a daily basis. The Society has over 70,000 volunteers who have access to various parts of the computer network. Strict and rigid access control management is in place and checked.
Working and large WAN has its challenges with providing access to all sites to our modernized data centre. Making sure we have the highest up-time possible.
Management to which I report to is excellent, second to none. Working with my co-workers is a pleasure. Being part of a very small team, which very large responsibility is very enjoyable.
Working is such a dynamic environment has brought my technical skills up to date. With updated Server farms to 2008 +, deployment of WAN Accelerators, implementation and maintenance of VoIP systems. With my time here, learning is something that you do a daily basis.
I enjoyed working at CCS, as this was a personal motivation for me, the atmosphere was fantastic. I traveled alot to Winnipeg, do not care to do that any more. Non-profits struggle now and days, and this is something that I do not care to continue with, overall great place to work.
Event Organizer (Former Employee) – Collingwood, ON – 22 July 2017
This group of individuals that have dedicated so much of their time and energy towards the cause, show what passion and determination truly are. They demonstrate strength as a group in raising awareness and spreading hope for those struggling to win the fight against cancer.
Program Coordinator (Current Employee) – Hamilton, ON – 17 July 2017
The organization provides support and assistance to cancer patients, families and the general public. This is a non-profit organization and is facing the same challenges that all charities face in the modern age: people are less giving, there are more charities to compete with and senior leadership is constantly making changes to the workforce.
PS (Current Employee) – Hamilton, ON – 4 July 2017
A lot of people have been let go recently. Many HR related issues with poor management. Pay is decent and benefits are good. Pension. Sadly the morale is very low, people are unahppy and management needs to work on their people skills.
Team Co-Leader (Current Employee) – Leader, SK – 7 June 2017
A yearly event which takes place for students to volunteer and gain experience, where many people work together to gather money for cancer patients. This is a well put together event, in which people do not only gather together to collect money but also to walk, sing, and dance; forgetting all the stresses which one goes through in their everyday lives.
Customer Service Representative/ Campaign Caller (Former Employee) – Regina, NM – 27 April 2017
I kept pretty much to myself and trained the Lucas on the phones. I did the work needed. but I felt I wasn't appreciated just used for my talents on the phone to get through the calls. on average I did 150- 200 calls a day.
Good work-life balance but no opportunity to advance
Communications and Marketing (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 11 April 2017
CCS is a fantastic organization with an incredible mission. It's going through a major period of transition which has made it extremely difficult to advance. There's a great emphasis on work life balance. The people who work at CCS have almost all been touched by cancer in some way which means that the majority of staff there are extremely passionate about the cancer cause.
this was a good opportunity to learn a different job experience
temporary seasonal telephone recruiter (Former Employee) – Vancouver, BC – 11 April 2017
a typical day at work was making phone calls to recruit volunteers to canvass and collect donations. I learned how hard it is to be a telephone recruiter. management did not give enough material in order for one to be successful at this job
HR Co-op Student (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 23 March 2017
The culture and people are the strongest point CCS has. Currently going through a major change, unstable environment and job uncertainty. It is nice to work for an organization aiming for more than just profit.
