The Financial Analyst is responsible for all daily and periodically scheduled activities in support of the organization’s financial reporting and forecasting, analysis and related processes working within the guidelines of general accepted accounting requirements, performed in an efficient and timely manner, while maintaining good internal controls and adherence to Foundation policies and procedures.

1. Financial Analysis and Reporting
a.Assist in the preparation of financial statements and monthly variance reports
b.Ensure monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
c.Analyze all operating and capital budget components and prepare corresponding narrative summaries and metrics
d.Act as primary ‘go to’ person for organization-wide analysis pertaining to all business units and core business activities and initiatives
e.Track, record, allocate and reconcile investment income
f.Report on the performance of the Foundation’s investments against return objectives
g.Update and maintain Region’s asset inventory

2. General Ledger and Compliance
a.Prepare monthly journal entries including, but not limited to: Inter-organizational business unit allocations
b.Ensure correct allocation of costs
c.Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of balance sheets
d.Post payables/revenue journal entries
e.Ensure accurate expense tracking

a.Audit: Assist in the preparation of documentation and analysis of financial statements and lead sheets to ensure a smooth annual audit
b.Policy, Procedure, Analysis Design: Provide recommendations to the Senior Director on how to streamline Finance operations processes and policies; Assist in the design and enhancement of budget models, forecasting methods and procedures


  • Accounting designation
  • 3 - 5 years in an accounting or financial environment, with at least 1 year post-designation experience
  • Knowledge of CRA reporting procedures and practices
  • Financial statement presentation and analysis
  • Knowledge of Great Plains and FRX report writer an asset
  • Advanced Excel and proficiency in MS Word
  • Proven integrity and ethics - bondable

Conditions of Employment:
Standard workweek is 35 hours, over 5 days, representing 8 hours at the office daily including a daily one-hour unpaid break. Some additional work outside the regular work day is expected for evening and weekend meetings and attendance and participation at special events.

NOTE: CBCF Prairies/NWT Region policy on working hours and compensatory time specifies compensatory time arrangements. All employees are guided by this policy.
