Summary of Position:

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant works cross functionally with Finance Department team members in assisting the preparation of monthly Financial Statements and Management reports; and is responsible for inventory revaluation and cost of production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the preparation of monthly Financial Statements and Management reports. Tasks include:
  • Run Financial Statements model
  • Analyze the variances between actuals vs. budgets for Management reports
  • Responsible for Cost of Production, inventory valuations, inventory provision, and overhead analysis
  • Performs other month end tasks:
  • Manages various month end accruals
  • Sales discount provision
  • Updates monthly FX rates
  • Updates leads sheets
  • Reconcile loan accounts and customer deposits
  • Sales reconciliations
  • Interest expense allocation
  • Prepares and maintains Market to Market unrealized gain/loss transactions
  • Completes CIBC borrowing base certificate
  • Prepares sales commissions calculations, including communications with sales team
  • Assists in annual year end audit

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in business, working toward an accounting designation (CGA or CMA)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or distribution organization is preferred
  • Experience in the Apparel industry a definite asset

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Intermediate to advanced level skills with MS-Word and Excel
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical capabilities in planning, organizing and process control
