POSITION TITLE: Kitchen Staff at Camp PEAK
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Summer Employment
LOCATION: South River, Ontario
REPORTING TO: Program Director
START DATE: June 22nd, 2014.
END DATE: September 2nd, 2014.
BENEFITS: None
SALARY: Based on Experience

Summary: Camp PEAK is a co-ed summer residential camp for kids aged 8-17. We are looking for individuals with energy, enthusiasm and experience to be a part of our 2014 start season staffing team. Staff orientation sessions will take place at the Camp prior to campers arriving June 29th, 2014.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Live on-site to provide healthy meals for the duration of the summer camp season
- Assume responsibility of the health, well-being and safety of all campers at all times, reporting all incidents if necessary
- Counter Attendant and Food Preparer Skills: Prepare, heat and finish simple food items, Serve customers at counters or buffet tables, Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs, Portion and wrap foods, Stock refrigerators and salad bars
- Kitchen Helping Skills: Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit, Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment, Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas, Remove kitchen garbage and trash, Handle and store cleaning products, Sweep and mop floors
- Bussing Skills: Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs, Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas
- Dishwashing Skills: Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware, Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand, Scour pots and pans, Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts and waste disposal units
- Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- Respond to Staff concerns diligently and efficiently
- Provide a Peanut-Free Environment
- Record and document temperatures in fridge, freezer, cooked meat and other materials daily
- Maintain inventory
- Participate in mandatory staff training prior to camp start date
- Ability to work well in a culturally diverse environment well as part of a team
- Adheres to policies and procedures stated in the Camp Employee Handbook
- To conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times and to respectfully represent the Camp both on and off camp property
- Additional duties as assigned by Head Cook, Program Director & Camp Director

Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary studies
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- Experience working with youth/children in a camp setting (8 to 17 years old)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational skills
- Enthusiastic, team player, positive
- Accommodating and flexible
- Provision of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Food Safe Handler’s Certificate
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Certificate (WHMIS)
- Any other culinary training an asset
- First Aid & CPR (C) an asset
