Centre for Education & Training has started a new co-ed summer residential camp for kids aged 8-17. We are looking for individuals with energy, enthusiasm and experience to be a part of our 2013 start season staffing team. Staff orientation sessions will take place at the Camp prior to campers arriving June 30th, 2013. This position has potential for year round part-time employment.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Work closely with Program Director, Head of Leadership Development, Head of Health & Wellness Program and Head of Sports and Activities, Nurse, Head of Waterfront, Lifeguards, support staff and counselors to support all aspects of the Camp
- Live on-site to provide healthy meals for the duration of the summer camp season
- Assume responsibility of the health, well-being and safety of all campers at all times, reporting all incidents
- Food Preparation Specializations: Bakery goods and desserts, Stocks, soups and sauces, Eggs and dairy, Cold kitchen (salads, appetizers, sandwiches), Cereals, grains and pulses, Vegetables, fruits, nuts and mushrooms, Meat, Poultry, Fish, Pasta, Pizza
- Types of Meals/Food Prepared: Breakfasts, Lunches, Dinners, Buffet, Banquet, All meals, Full course meals
- Specific Skills: Prepare and cook full course meals, Plan menus following Canada’s Food Guide, Ensure quality of food and determine size of food proportions, Prepare dishes for campers & staff with food allergies or intolerances, Estimate food requirements and costs, Inspect kitchens and food service areas, Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food, Order supplies and equipment, Supervise kitchen staff and helpers, Schedule Kitchen Staff, Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment, Clean kitchen and work areas, Wash dishes, Manage kitchen operations, Manage kitchen finances
- Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- Ensure a safe work environment for yourself and coworkers by upholding safety policies and procedures
- Ensure the Kitchen is meeting the health and safety guidelines set forth by the Public Health Department & OCA Standards
- Provide a Peanut-Free Environment
- Respond to Director/Assistant Director concerns diligently and efficiently
- Daily morning meeting with Program Director to discuss schedules, program and concerns/issues
- Participate in mandatory staff training prior to camp start date
- Ability to lead and work well in a culturally diverse environment well as part of a team
- Ability to handle stressful situations, demonstrates professionalism & maturity, works with minimal supervision required
- Adheres to policies and procedures stated in the Camp Employee Handbook
- To conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times and to respectfully represent the Camp both on and off camp property
- Additional duties as assigned by Program Director & Camp Director
- 3 -4 years’ experience in a culinary environment cooking for up to 150 people
- Experience working with youth/children in a camp setting (8 to 17 years old) an asset
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational skills
- Enthusiastic, team player, positive
- Accommodating and flexible
- Provision of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Food Safe Handler’s Certificate
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Certificate (WHMIS)
- Other culinary training
- First Aid & CPR (C) an asset
