Location: Diagnostic & Scientific Centre (#9, 3535 Research Road NW)
Schedule: Monday to Friday.

HR Assistant is responsible for managing transactional benefit claims made through the CLS Flexible Spending Account including; processing and payment of claims made for Wellness, Professional Development, Family Care, RRSP, and Dues.
This position also provides administrative support to the Human Resources department primarily assisting in the area of payroll and benefits administration through data entry and processing of employee information, and report production.
Creates annual mail out memos and declaration forms and distributes these to all qualifying employees to facilitate the Flexible Spending Account allocation process.
Calculates amount of carryover and forfeiture for Flexible spending account.
Calculates entitlements and provides appropriate documentation for all eligible new hires and transfers.
Responds to employee questions and concerns and works collaboratively to resolve issues as they arise.
Monitors benefit eligibility periods and processes enrollments in a timely manner ensuring accurate data entry into payroll benefit module.
Processing benefit information throughout multiple systems.
Verifies timesheet adjustments and payroll reports on pay processing day and investigates and adjusts pay discrepancies.
Data enters employee information into the Avanti payroll system.
Prepares and distributes payroll management reports on a bi-weekly basis.
Reviews employment change notices, change scheduling templates for employees on leave of absence and notifies timekeeping for possible schedule changes. .
Presents payroll and benefit information in the CLS Corporate Orientation.
Assists with CLS Student Grant program by coordinating and determining eligibility, answering inquiries and assisting with planning for program and preparing for the draw.
Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Aptitudes
High School graduation supplemented by post secondary education in Human Resources or Benefits Administration or Payroll is required.
Canadian Payroll Level I certification or Human Resources diploma or certificate, (or partial completion of a post-secondary certificate or diploma in Human Resources or Payroll/Benefits Administration) is preferred.
One to two years of previous experience in a related position is required. (Equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.)
Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
Excellent keyboarding skills.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organization.
Good problem solving and judgment skills.
Results focused with the ability to work independently and productively under time pressure.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work well with other team members to support organizational goals.
