To perform a Security Guard function in Ontario, it is now legislated in Ontario for anyone working in the security industry to hold a valid Security Guard Licence. All citizens are required to obtain 40 hours of training by Provincially approved Training Centre’s.
Training is available in Kingston, Belleville, Cornwall, Peterborough, Cobourg and Brockville.
Commissionaires Security Solutions Kingston & Region Division is the largest security provider in Eastern Ontario, excluding Ottawa, with established clients such as; Educational Institutions, Commercial Industry, Municipalities, Provincial Government and Government of Canada. Our Regional Office is located in Kingston, with District Offices in Cobourg, Belleville, Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall.
Required Education, Qualifications and Experience
- Excellent Customer/Client Communications Skills;
- Clear criminal record - CPIC required.
- Minimum 18 years of age, High School Diploma, Good Physical Health;
- Hold a current and Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence;
- Be computer literate;
- Willing and able to work shift work, working irregular hours (days, afternoons, midnights, weekends and holidays);
- Fluent English language skills – speaking and writing;
- Priority will be given to candidates who hold a current Ontario Provincial Security Licence; and
- Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

Please note: Attending training and obtaining your Security Guard Training from the Kingston & Region Division (Commissionaires), Training & Education Department, does not guarantee employment with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. Once you have completed your training, passed the Ontario Licence Exam and received your licence, you may submit your application for employment. Your application will be reviewed and if deemed suitable, you will receive a call to arrange and appointment date and time for an interview.
