Position Summary

As a key member of the Operations team, the Field Personnel Manager is responsible for maximizing field operations personnel capabilities through short-term and long-term business needs as well as the development of field operations personnel. The Field Personnel Manager will deal directly with scheduling, performance management, people development, recruitment, retention and succession planning while possessing a strong knowledge of field operations. Applicant will also be required to assist with the facilitation of our cross border movements as directed by our immigration specialists in addition to remaining current with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. This role requires the Field Personnel Manager to adhere to, and enforce all established CGG policies and procedures. This role further requires the individual to maintain and promote positive relationships between the management team, support mechanisms and employees.

Job Profile:

Schedule and position the necessary senior field personnel resources in a manner that best affords opportunity for success
Identify new candidates, promote, train and mentor for field management
Coach, mentor and support senior field personnel
Provide reliable support to RCM’s in dealing with development of crew line management
Conduct crew visits to ensure projects are running efficiently and build rapport with direct reports
Support and guide RCM’s in dealing with performance issues in the field
Monitor compensation increases
Advise senior management when rate increases are required/recommended
Develop annual succession planning for direct reports
Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports
Offer recommendations, as necessary to further enhance and meet the growth objectives of the organization
Ensure adequate amount of employees in the employee pool to support a backlog of work
Schedule personnel to meet client and company goals
Evaluate divisional technical skill levels and mitigate gaps
Recommend development strategies (training, experience, assignments, practices) to increase effectiveness
Assist managers and supervisors with the implementation of technical training
Schedule training and resources
Develop and deliver technical training for personnel working on Land Seismic Crews
Maintain current knowledge of human rights and employment standards
Ensure proper protocol is being followed with new and existing hires
Advise RCM’s on staffing policies and procedures
Review and evaluate applicant certifications and licences according to established hiring guidelines
Perform other special projects as assigned

Required Education & Experience:

Able to work in a result focused environment
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively with different managers, employee personalities, etc.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Solid interpersonal skills and an excellent understanding of customer service
Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, professionally, and confidentially at all times
Solid MS Office skills
Ability to remain focused and productive in an environment where interruptions are routine and frequent
Well-developed management, coaching and leadership skills, both on a formal and informal basis
Overtime may be required on occasion, based on activity levels
Frequent travel is required
