The Opportunity Reporting to the CEO at our centrally located Ottawa office, the Director of Marketing is responsible for the marketing of all products, services, image and branding. This individual will serve as the subject matter expert in all marketing-related activities through various channels with the objective of driving and attaining new sales opportunities. With full responsibility for both Marketing Communications and Product Marketing, the Director of Marketing also launches and manages new products, services, and associated brands to meet profitability goals through effective marketing programs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop marketing strategy and branding initiatives in support of corporate business plan, goals and objectives
Initiate research, development, and implementation of new marketing programs, including direct mail, corporate sales, Internet marketing, conventions, workshops, advertisements, sales tools and other initiatives
Analyze market trends to determine feasibility and profitability of new or existing offerings; make recommendations based on findings
Maximize brand value through the development of additional revenue streams and new opportunities
Ensure all products, services, and other offerings conform with brand identity
Determine pricing and profitability margins based on market research and other projections
Develop and oversee advertising and promotion activities, including print, radio and television, online, and direct mail
Collaborate with sales and operations personnel to prepare sales forecasts
Develop and execute tactical marketing plans and programs to support sales and revenue objectives
Work with designers, writers, editors and other creative staff to produce marketing collateral in accordance with brand messages
Develop, implement and manage corporate website content and social media strategy
Collaborate with sales organization to identify customer needs
Develop strategy and schedule for Press Releases taking full ownership for all content and distribution
Provide support and tools to Account Managers and other sales staff that will drive sales within their areas
Prepare and deliver reports on the status of all marketing programs and initiatives to senior management
Communicate and negotiate with promotional partners as needed for joint marketing activities
Assess the financial returns for special campaigns and promotions
Design and attend relevant trade show and convention appearances in order to build relationships and promote the organization’s initiatives
Monitor, evaluate, and report on competitor activities; make recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered
Promote new marketing initiatives to all staff
Qualifications
University degree in Marketing, Business, or related discipline
8-10 years of direct work experience in a marketing and marketing management capacity
Excellent understanding and working knowledge with brand building and brand management
Extensive knowledge of the technology industry
Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
Energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented
Proven team player who is both flexible and adaptable
Proven skill set in web site creation and management, as well as social media
Computer literate
Superb writing, content development and editing skills
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
Willingness to travel up to 20% of time
